Gameloft has announced that their popular mobile racing game, Asphalt 9: Legends will be coming to Steam soon! Here's all the details you need to know!
Asphalt 9, like the previous games in the Asphalt series, was released in 2018 strictly as a mobile game made to fit perfectly in the palm of your hands. However, the game has grown in popularity and size over the last few years. Its player base had grown significantly to the point that the developers, Gameloft, decided to release it on Nintendo Switch - expanding the available platforms the game can be played on from the regular Android and iOS devices.
But it seems like Gameloft isn't done with expanding the game's reach! They recently announced that Asphalt 9: Legends will be coming to Steam soon. What will this mean for this ultra popular game? Let's find out!
Release Date
Asphalt 9: Legends has been available on its official Steam page since August 2, 2022.
Platforms
For those unfamiliar with what Steam is, it's basically a digital distribution service for video game made by Valve (yes, the creators behind Counter-Strike and DOTA). They cover a variety of platforms from Android to iOS. But, Steam is also available on PC platforms such as Windows, macOS, and Linux! This means that on top of being able to play Asphalt 9 on your phone (and on the Xbox Series S/X), you'll ALSO be able to play the game on your computer and, perhaps most handily, the Steam Deck.
But that's not the only benefit to game's platform expansion! In a tweet from the Asphalt Twitter account, they had another surprise for us:

Cross-save and cross-platform! Now, players will be able to compete in multiplayer matches with racers across all the above mentioned platforms. On top of that, single-player career mode progress can be saved across platforms - meaning that you will be able to pick up your latest save from your mobile phone and continue on that on your PC!
New Features
Not much is known about the potential new features that Gameloft has planned for Asphalt 9's release on Steam. However, we can expect that the devs will have new events, cars, or races that are completely exclusive to Steam players. It's a normal thing to expect as Gameloft would ideally like to attract as many players as possible to the new gaming platform.
Once again, the Steam page had a teaser about what's to come when Asphalt 9 is officially released there:
