Everdale Has Been Revived, Will Resume Development Immediately

Everdale is set to make a return to mobile devices after a nearly three-month-long shutdown.

When its servers closed in October 2022, many players thought they had seen the end of the Supercell-backed title, Everdale. However, they couldn't have been any more wrong.

In a surprise announcement, it has been confirmed that fellow Finnish developer, Metacore, will pick up the reins and resume the development of Everdale. Metacore is the team responsible for the popular story-driven game: Merge Mansion.

Needless to say, this is welcome news for many Everdale players. The free-to-play mobile grew a large following over its year-long beta and garnered hundreds of thousands of downloads across multiple devices.

It earned a reputation as a relaxing village-building simulator that contrasts with other chaotic and action-driven Supercell titles.

Metacore will acquire the game from Supercell, and - unfortunately, for some - won't be entirely the same game when it's released down the line. In an interview, Metacore CEO Mika Tammenkoski stated that they "will tear the game down into parts and put things back together, and then test it to see what works with the audience."

Fret not; the game will still use the same game art. However, there will be new gameplay features and a bigger focus on building and team play. Tammenkoski later added that due to this ground-up approach to the game's development, it's highly unlikely that Everdale will be released in 2023.

We're uncertain about what else lies in store for Everdale, but we're glad that the game was given a second chance. It has incredible potential to become one of the big names in the mobile gaming scene.
