As a result, many miss out on the feature, whereas some look for ways to play with their buddy in Pokemon Go. So, to help such players, we are here with a handy guide explaining the Buddy System in Pokemon Go.

How To Play With Your Buddy In Pokemon Go

To play with your buddy in Pokemon Go, you must first select a buddy via your Trainer profile. Here is how you can do that:

  • Open Pokemon Go
  • Click on your portrait to open your Trainer Profile [You can find it in the bottom left side of the game screen.]
  • Set your Buddy Pokemon
    • If you already have selected one by mistake, you can swap them for another Pokemon using the same menu

Assuming you followed the steps and selected your buddy, close your Trainer Profile and click on your buddy's portrait icon. Once that is done, you will get the option to 'Play.' Tap on it, and it will transition you to AR mode.

Afterward, you can tap anywhere on your screen to place your buddy. Once that is done, you are free to walk around with your buddy, catch new Pokemon, and do other things.

Meanwhile, if you want to interact with your buddy, you can tap on it. That being said, depending on your Buddy Level, you get different perks and benefits. So, make sure to level up your Buddy Pokemon to get the most out of the Buddy System.
