Pokémon GO: January 2023 Content Update

Here's a complete overview of all the new Pokémon, events, and more that's coming in the January content update of Pokémon GO.

We're entering the second month of Season 9 in Pokémon GO: Mythical Wishes. After an exciting, festival-packed December, we'll now look to all the new content coming in the coming month of the new year.

Lucky for us, the devs have revealed everything we expect to see in Pokémon GO in January 2023. These include new Five-Star Raids, Mega Raids, Spotlight Hours, events, and Research Breakthrough events.

Pokémon GO January Update - Five-Star Raids

Four Five-Star Raids will be available in Pokémon GO during January. They will start and end at 10 am local time on the respective dates.

These are all the Five-Star Raids and Pokémon that will soon be available in Pokémon GO:

  • January 1-10: Reshiram (that knows Fusion Flare)
  • January 10-18: Zekrom (that knows Fusion Bolt)
  • January 18-25: Regice
  • January 25 - February 1: Tapu Koko

Pokémon GO January Update - Mega Raids

There will be four Mega Raids in January that will start and end at 10 am local time on the respective dates.

These are all the Mega Raids and Pokémon that will soon be available in Pokémon GO:

  • January 1-10: Mega Steelix
  • January 10-18: ??? (Stay tuned to see which Pokémon will be made available)
  • January 18-25: Mega Lopunny
  • January 25 - February 1: Mega Aerodactyl

Pokémon GO January Update - Raid Hours

Four weekly raid hours in Pokémon GO for January. As always, these will be held between 6-7 pm local time.

These are all the raid hours and the Pokémon that will soon be available in Pokémon GO:

  • January 4: Reshiram
  • January 11: Zekrom
  • January 18: Regice
  • January 25: Tapu Koko

Pokémon GO January Update - Spotlight Hours

Five weekly Spotlight Hours will be held in January between 6-7 pm local time.

These are all the Spotlight Hours and the Pokémon that will be available soon:

  • January 3: Alolan Sandshrew (2x XP for evolving Pokémon)
  • January 10: Swirlix (2x Stardust for catching Pokémon)
  • January 17: Seedot (2x XP for catching Pokémon)
  • January 24: Tynamo (2x Catch Candy)
  • January 31: Blitzle (2x Candy for transferring Pokémon)

If you're lucky, you might be able to encounter a Shiny version of these Pokémon.

Several in-game events will be held in Pokémon GO throughout January 2023. The timings of these events will vary for each one.

Regardless, these are all the in-game events you can expect to see in Pokémon GO soon:

  • December 31 - January 4: Pokémon GO New Year's 2023
  • January 7: January Community Day
  • January 10-16: Twinkling Fantasy Event
  • January 14-15: GO Battle Weekend: Steven Stone
  • January 19-23: Lunar New Year 2023
  • January 21: January Community Day Classic
  • January 27 - February 5: Crackling Voltage Event
