Ford's esports team, Team Fordzilla, has announced that its newly designed Team Fordzilla P1 (TFZ-P1) racing vehicle will be making its gaming debut in Gameloft's popular racing game, Asphalt 8.

This was announced at Gamescom 2022, which is currently taking place in Cologne, Germany. The virtual TFZ-P1 car will be launched as a special award for attendees of the ten-day in-game festival beginning September 2, 2022.

The TFZ-P1 was first conceptualized in March 2020 after a Twitter poll asked the Ford gaming community about features they would like to see in a digital car. After almost a quarter of a million fan votes and several rounds of designs from the Ford team seeking to capture the community's requests, the TFZ-P1 was born.

Shortly after revealing the digital design, a full-sized model of the vehicle was presented at Gamescom 2020. Since then, the car evolved into a racing simulator and a live streaming platform where an experimental, reflective orange livery was unveiled. After this, Ford decided to spend the next two years focused on bringing the TFZ-P1 to its "true roots as a popular racing car for console games."

With the TFZ-P1 having had its physical debut at Gamescom and Team Fordzilla celebrating its third-year anniversary in 2022, it only made sense that they celebrate the occasion by having the TFZ-P1's mobile gaming debut in Asphalt 8 at Gamescom 2022. Its appearance in the game will offer fans the opportunity to see the vehicle in eight new colors.

The TFZ-P1's top speed is 435 km/h, and an additional 48 km/h can be reached with a Nitro Boost. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h takes place in an impressive 1.12 seconds. Players will certainly ensure adrenaline-charged action from the beginning to the end of the race.

Emmanuel Lubranif from Team Fordzilla was jubilant about their "spaceship" car entering the mobile gaming scene:

Mobile gaming is a whole new area that we're just beginning to explore. And we couldn't be happier to launch the TFZ-P1 in such a popular and well-known game [...] Now we'll all be able to see how good it is at those fun jumps"

This announcement could set the wheels in motion for other famous car brands and their respective esports teams to start designing their own game-exclusive vehicles.

Coincidently, this isn't the only car that is on show at Gamescom, with BMW showcasing a new Mini concept car in collaboration with Pokémon.
