Supercell has released a preview of what's to come in the upcoming Builder Base 2.0 in Clash of Clans.
Many players have been holding their breath since Supercell announced their plans to rework the entire Builder Base in Clash of Clans. As you all might already know, the once-beloved game mode has gone through a rough patch over the past couple of years.
Players have called it unrewarding and the devs themselves have said the gameplay lacks the focused strategy aspect they were hoping to have in this game mode.
Recently, Game Lead Stuart came out to give a sneak peek of what's in store for the Builder Base rework. The bottom line is simple. There will be fewer stronger troops and active triggered abilities will be added to troops.
Builder Base 2.0 Rework Will Eliminate Spam Attacks
In the Builder Base, it's a common attack strategy to swarm opponents with troops such as Raged Barbarians and Beta Minions. The devs will be looking to curb that "spammy" tactic and introduce more strategy to the game mode.
After rounds of testing, they've concluded that troops like Rage Barbarians will have just 4 troops per slot. This smaller number of troops will encourage "more thoughtful troop placement" as you can't spam them to break through your opponent's defenses.
Active Abilities Will Be Added To Builder Base Troops
The devs will be adding a reusable active ability (similar to Heroes) to each troop. As no Spells exist in the Builder Base, there are no ways you can intervene when something goes wrong in your attack. This addition will open a route for more innovative new troops and attack strategies.
The teaser revealed the Bomber's and Cannon Cart's active abilities. The Bomber will have an active ability that, when activated, will have its next attack bounce through several targets - similar to a Bowler's attack.
The Cannon Cart will have an active ability that enables it to deploy itself into an immovable long-range Cannon anywhere on the battlefield. You can then use the ability again to have it become a movable Cannon Cart again.

Supercell had admitted that they are still in the early stages of the Builder Base rework. So, take this teaser with a grain of salt as they might change in the final release.
As the devs mentioned in the past, they are looking to bring back a "focused, tactical, fun feeling" aspect to the game mode. There is a lot that needs fixing and we're glad to see the new features. It looks like the Builder Base might return to its former glory in the future.
