Clash Royale Trading Tokens allow you to trade cards with clan mates and the in-game Trader - mightily useful for getting the best deck you can. However, not everyone knows how to get Trade Tokens or exactly how they work and, if that is the case for you, this Clash Royale Trading Tokens guide will help you out.
What Are Clash Royale Trade Tokens?
Before we get into how to get Trade Tokens in Clash Royale, it is best to understand exactly how they work. The following is a breakdown of both trading with Clan members and the Trader NPC.
Trading With Clan Mates In Clash Royale
Trade Tokens allow you to trade cards with other players in your Clan or with the in-game Trader (an NPC). You must be over King Level 8 to earn Trade Tokens which come in four rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary which correspond with the card rarities seen in the game.
You can hold up to 10 Trade Tokens at any one time and you and the person you are trading with will need a Trading Token that matches the card's rarity. For example, an Epic Trade Token can only be used to trade Epic cards.
There are a number of requirements and stipulations when trading cards that you will need to wrap your head around. The easiest way to do that is to walk you through a trade. Remember, you will need to be in a Clan to trade and you can only trade with other Clan members.
To initiate a trade, from the Home screen, twice press on the Clan icon found at the bottom right of the screen. From here you will see a Request tab and Trade tab, Request offers the ability to put up a card that your fellow Clan members can donate to, helping you level it up, while Trade allows you to set what you are willing to give up to get your hands on it.
When you put up a trade, you can put forward four cards that you are willing to trade for it but the other player can only accept one of these. You can get Gold from trade but only when accepting a card that you have already maxed out. The trade screen will also show you how many Trade Tokens you have.
Also, if you want to trade a card you have already maxed out, there will be a cost in Gold. The prices are as follows:
- 5 for each Common card
- 50 for each Rare card
- 500 for each Epic card
- 20,000 for each Legendary card
Depending on your Arena level, there are restrictions on the rarity and number of cards you can trade, as you climb the Arena levels, you can trade more valuable cards.
Once you have set up your trade, that trade will now be visible on the Clan homepage for 36 hours. If you fail to complete the transaction before that time you will be refunded the spent Trade Tokens. You can also cancel the trade at any and be refunded the Trade Tokens.
If you want to trade with someone outside your Clan - it is possible - but it involves you joining the Clan of the person you wish to trade with. Be warned though, if you leave a Clan you have a cool-down period of 2 hours and 30 minutes before you can trade or request, so make sure you really want that card!
Trading With The Trader In Clash Royale
Trading with the Trader is easier, however, there is less potential of getting exactly what you want. The Trader becomes available only during Clan Wars and you will still need Trade Tokens.
However, the Trader will only offer you three pre-selected Cards and only want three pre-selected Cards in return. You can re-roll this but it will cost you 10 Gems.
The Trader will have a new set of cards daily with the reset happening at midnight local time.
How Do You Get Trade Tokens In Clash Royale?
Okay, now we have trading out of the way, how exactly do you get the all-important Trade Tokens in Clash Royale? As mentioned before, players can only have 10 Tokens of each rarity which can be earned through Special Events, Challenges, and Global Tournaments, as a Trophy Road Reward, or by purchasing them through the in-game Shop. The latter of which usually sees a Trader Token bundled with a Chest and Gold for example.
You can also get Trade Tokens through the Pass Royale. One Token of each rarity is awarded once you make it to their respective tiers.
If you already have 10 tokens of a rarity, further tokens received will be converted to Gold (250 for Common, 500 for Rare, 1,000 for Epic, and 2,000 for Legendary). However, Tokens refunded by canceling a trade or purchased in the Shop will allow you to go over the 10 Token limit.
