Since the game doesn't allow you to skip time, usually you must wait until the rain ends, making the machines ready to use.

In LEGO Fortnite, you can skip time by simply heading to the lobby and logging in to the game mode.
First, ensure you have a bed crafted to set your spawn point. This step is not mandatory, but we recommend doing it.
Once you have your bed crafted, set the spawn point and rest. After that, go to the pause menu and click on the exit button at the bottom to leave the match.
Click on 'Yes' to head to the game lobby. Once you are there, start matchmaking to head back into your game world.
When you hop back to your game world, you will see the rain and lightning have stopped.
This works every time, as we have been using this method to skip time in LEGO Fortnite for a while now.
