Several Square Enix mobile games will be shut down early next year.
Square Enix Montréal has begun the process of shutting down all of its mobile games titles.
This comes after the games developer, which rebranded to Studio Onoma earlier this year, was announced by its parent company - Embracer Group - to be closing its doors in November after ten years in the industry.

Arena Battle Champions, Deus Ex Go, Hitman Sniper: The Shadows, and Space Invaders: Hidden Heroes are all the mobile games affected. They will be shut down on January 4, 2023,after which you will not be able to access or play the games in any way.
The games will also be removed from the Apple App store and Google Play store on December 1, 2022.
After Studio Onoma made this announcement, all in-game purchases for these titles were suspended. In-game purchases made prior to this suspension will also not be refunded. This would be unfortunate for players of Arena Battle Champions as the game relies on gacha and pay-to-win mechanics.
The shutting down of Studio Onoma and all of its respective game titles came as a shock to many. Embracer Group, a Swedish video game company, acquired the studio only in August this year for USD $300 million.
While no official reason has been revealed for the Canadian studio's closure, many such as video games journalist Jason Schreier reason that this is due to Embracer's pivot to focus mainly on PC and console games.
