The new October content update in Pokémon GO promises to be exciting and huge. Let's go over all the details you need to know about it.
The October content update is finally here in Pokémon GO! Niantic recently announced a new season, that being the Season of Light, which will be run from the beginning of September until December 1, 2022. We've already seen what it has to offer in the September content update, so we can't wait for everything the new monthly update has in store for us.
Niantic has already laid out everything that we can expect to see in Pokémon GO for October. These include new five-star raids, mega raids, spotlight hours, events, and research breakthrough events. Let's go over all of them and get you prepped for the big month ahead!
Pokémon GO October Update - 5-Star Raids
There will be four five-star raids in Pokémon GO during October. They will start and end at 10 am local time on the respective dates.
These are all the five-star raids and Pokémon that will be available in Pokémon GO during October 2022:
- September 27 - October 8: Yveltal
- October 8 - October 20: Xerneas
- October 20 - October 27: Giratina (Altered Forme)
- October 27 - November 8: Giratina (Origin Forme)
Pokémon GO October Update - Mega Raids
There will be three mega raids in October that will start and end at 10 am local time.
These are all the mega raids and Pokémon that will be available in Pokémon GO during October 2022:
- September 27 - October 8: Mega Lopunny
- October 8 - October 20: Mega Manectric
- October 20 - November 8: ???
Pokémon GO October Update - Raid Hours
There will be four weekly raid hours in Pokémon GO in October. As usual, these will be held between 6 pm and 7 pm local time.
These are all the raid hours and the Pokémon that will be available in Pokémon GO during October 2022:
- October 5: Yveltal
- October 12: Xerneas
- October 19: Xerneas
- October 26: Giratina (Altered Forme)
Pokémon GO October Update - Spotlight Hours
Four Pokémon will be available during weekly Spotlight Hours in October between 6 pm and 7 pm local time.
These are the Pokémon and when you can expect to catch them:
- October 4: Purrloin
- October 11: Haunter
- October 18: Misdreavus
- October 25: Shuppet
On the October 25 Spotlight Hour, Niantic has a special, though currently unknown, event that will be taking place at the beginning and end of the hour. You'll need to bring your Buddy Pokémon for this.
Pokémon GO October Update - Events
Several in-game events will be held in Pokémon GO throughout October 2022. The timing of these events will vary with each event.
Regardless, these are all the in-game events you can expect to see in Pokémon GO:
- October 5 - October 11: Evolving Stars Event
- October 8 (2 pm - 5 pm): Mega Gyarados Raid Day
- October 14 - October 17: Festival of Lights
- October 15 (2 pm - 5 pm): October Community Day
- October 20 - November 1: Halloween Event
There will also be a live event, Safari Zone, which will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, between October 21 and October 23.
Pokémon GO October Update - Research Breakthrough
There will be only one Pokémon available during the Research Breakthrough event in Pokémon GO in October: Shedinja. It will start on October 1 at 1 pm (GMT - 7) and end on November 1 at 1 pm (GMT - 7)
