Niantic has released the July 2022 content update for Pokémon GO! We've got all the details about Raids, Spotlight Hours, upcoming events and more!
Every month brings new and fun content to Pokémon GO! This month is no different as Niantic recently released the content schedule for July 2022. Not only do they have amazing in-game content planned, but they have incredible in-person events that you can visit too! Without further ado, let's go over what you can expect for July 2022 including Raids, Spotlight hours, Pokémon GO and other upcoming events!
Raids
Three types of Raids will be available for July 2022: Five-Star Raids, Mega Raids, and Raid Hours. Let's take a deeper look at them:
Five-Star Raids
Four legendary Pokémon will be available in July. The availability dates are as follows:
- Articuno: July 1, 2022 to July 7, 2022
- Zapdos: July 7, 2022 to July 14, 2022
- Moltres: July 14, 2022 to July 22, 2022
- Dialga: July 22, 2022 to July 31, 2022
Mega Raids
Three Mega Pokémon will be available in July 2022. They are Mega Charizard, Mega Pidgeot, and Mega Gengar. Here's when you can expect to see them:
- Mega Charizard X: July 1, 2022 to July 7, 2022
- Mega Charizard Y: July 7 2022 July 14, 2022
- Mega Pidgeot: July 14 2022 to July 22, 2022
- Mega Gengar: July 22 2022 to July 31, 2022
Raid Hours
A Raid Hour event will occur from 6 pm to 7 pm local time every Wednesday in July. The Pokémon featured during these hours are:
- July 6: Articuno
- July 13: Zapdos
- July 20: Moltres
- July 27: Dialga
As always in Pokémon GO Raids, Shiny types are possible to obtain if you're lucky enough!
Besides this you can expect Research Breakthrough encounters between July 1 at 1 pm PDT (GMT −7) and August 1, 2022 at 1 pm PDT (GMT −7).
Spotlight Hours
Spotlight Hours are held every Tuesday from 6 pm to 7 pm local time. This month's spotlight Pokémon and bonuses are:
- July 5th – Ledyba with 2x Catch XP
- July 12th – Machop with 2x Catch Candy
- July 19th – Staryu with 2x Transfer Candy
- July 26th – Meditate with 2x Evolve XP
Pokémon GO Fest 2022
There will be two Pokémon GO events. These will be in-person events that you can go to if you're lucky to live near the event locations! Here's when these special Pokémon GO events will take place in July 2022:
- Pokémon GO Fest Berlin: July 1, 2022 to July 3, 2022
- Pokémon GO Fest Seattle: July 22, 2022 to July 24, 2022

Other Upcoming Events
- Pokémon GO Anniversary Event: The annual Anniversary Event will running from July 6, 2022 to July 12, 2022.
- ??? Event: A special mystery event will be taking place from July 27, 2022 to August 2, 2022. Niantic has teased that this event could see the release of new Pokémon and new adventures!
