So what is the Snapdragon Game Super Resolution? There is a complicated explanation of how the technology exactly works on the Qualcomm website, but we take a look at what it means for you as a gamer.

To sum it up, it makes gaming look much better and smoother. Qualcomm highlighted the four following points in the Snapdragon Game Super Resolution:

  • It will increase the resolution while maintaining the visual quality.
  • It will also increase the frame rate.
  • Besides improving quality, it will also lower power consumption to increase the battery life. GSR promises to increase visual fidelity as well.

Games like Warzone Mobile which support the GSR can see 1080p resolutions become sharper 4K. Additionally, 30 FPS titles can be played at 60+ FPS, seeing an almost double boost in performance.

Warzone Mobile is one of six titles besides Jade Dynasty: New Fantasy, Return to Empire, Justice Mobile, Naraka Mobile, and Farming Simulator 23 Mobile, which will currently support GSR.

It’s currently available for key partners using Snapdragon Processors. Qualcomm has said that it's compatible with most GPUs but works best with Snapdragon processors.

“By tapping into the unique capabilities of the Snapdragon Game Super Resolution technology, our development team has been able to easily enhance the upscaling and rendering performance of Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile on a variety of different mobile devices which will ultimately deliver our players potential benefits in increased framerate, sharper graphics, and extended battery life.” – Erik Beran, Technical Director of Mobile Programming, Activision

The scale of Warzone Mobile makes it a demanding title on mobile. The Snapdragon GSR is a very good indication for players as they will be able to extract the maximum experience from the game across a variety of devices.

Warzone Mobile is currently in limited release in Sweden and Australia. You can pre-register for it on the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store to be notified when it launches in your region.
