It is one of the permanent game modes coming to the game with version 1.4, "Jolted Awake From a Winter Dream" update going live on October 11, 2023.

What Are Aether Spirits In Honkai Star Rail
Aether Spirits are creatures in Honkai Star Rail that you can store in the form of Aether, which is a sort of card form that you can later use to manifest the spirit and battle other players.
You can capture Aether Spirits using Aether Coins and then use them during battle. When you do so, they will generate abilities you can use to defeat other players.

Honkai Star Rail Interastral Tournament Festival Explained
The Interastral Tournament Festival is a part of Aetherium Wars in Honkai Star Rail, where players visit the different Victory Zones to increase their Victory Rating and complete the associated Trials to earn Mastery Marks to progress in the tournament.
How To Level Up Aether Spirits In Honkai Star Rail
You can level up your Aether Spirit using Aether Spirit Level Up Data that you obtain from playing Aetherium Wars.
Once you have enough Aether Spirit Level Up Data, you can level up an Aether Spirit to increase its stats like HP, ATK, and SPD while unlocking the ability to equip more Aether Expansion Chips.
Honkai Star Rail Aether Expansion Chip & How To Use
Aether Expansion Chips are buffs that you can apply on your Aether Spirits to increase their attributes like ATK, HP, and others while getting bonuses like removing all debuffs at the end of your turn, chance of inflicting Wind Shear, and others.
Some of the Aether Expansion Chips include:
Backstage Enhancement
When it is not the wearer's turn, the wearer's ATK is increased by 50%.
Wind Shear Loophole
After attacking. there is a base chance to inflict Wind Shear on the attacked target for 2 turn (s). When afflicted with Wind, enemies take OOT equal to 0' the wearer's ATK at the start of each turn. stacks up to 5 time(s).
Functional Overdraft
After attacking an enemy. consumes HP equal to of the wearer's Max HP and Advances Forward the wearer's action by 40%. If the current HP is insufficient. the wearers' wilt be reduced to 1.
Deep Clean
At the end of the turn, remove all debuffs from the wearer and remove 1 debuff from each of the allies.
General Upgrade
Increases ATK by 20% and Max HP by 20%. A great Aether Expansion Chip for beginners.
Aetherium Wars Victory Zone Explained
Victory Zones are the areas where you use your Aether Spirit to tackle the different challenges that come in the form of puzzles, mechanisms, and other such things.
That being said, there are four Victory Zones, each with its own unique set of challenges to overcome, leading to trials that reward you with Mastery marks, a badge that you need for the next phase of the tournament.

The Arena is the location where you take part in the final challenge of the Interastral Tournament Festival once you have earned four Mastery Marks.
Aetherium Wars Hyperlink Match Explained
Hyperlink matches are a part of the Aetherium Wars that will allow players to challenge other players to duels where they can fight using their Aether Spirit and win to earn free rewards.
