Genshin Impact is breaking records even amidst fans' disappointments and drama.
While Genshin Impact's commercial success is not something hidden from its community, a recent report from data.ai reveals that the player spending in the game via microtransactions through Apple's App Store, Google Play Store, and third-party websites for the Android platform is estimated to be $5 billion within just 40 months of the game's launch, surpassing the previous rank holder, Clash of Clans, that reached the same figure in 51 months.
Keep in mind that these sales numbers do not even include the PC and PlayStation spending, which we are assuming must be as high as the mobile players spending as Genshin Impact garners a massive player base on PlayStation and PC combined.
The success of Genshin Impact is well deserved as the game offers a phenomenal story, characters, music, and many other aspects. But as the game is becoming more popular and profitable, its attitude towards its community is becoming more unminding.
Not only has Hoyoverse failed to add several QoL changes like artifact loadouts and many other such features, but it has also failed many times, and judging by their past silence, they will continue to disappoint when it comes to giving back to the community.
Yes! We are talking about the recent drama associated with the "three extra wishes" for supporting the game for the past three years. Not only were the rewards underwhelming, but they also made the "maniac squad" go after many content creators who have nothing but have helped the Genshin Impact player base in different manners.
I've been getting attacked from certain part community, saying what happened to boycotting Genshin or some shit. I never said that in the recent drama video. Now I don't know where these kids came from, but who is actually driving them to spread hates towards content creators? pic.twitter.com/nCSgq94bKD

i am getting this as well even though i am a resolutely anti-drama creatorit sucks that we as content creators who make our livelihood around this have to think twice about publishing certain content because of the amount of negativity spreading aroundand even if we dont, we... https://t.co/425we59vXz

Now, back to the topic, this should not come as a surprise, but still, the biggest market for Genshin Impact has been its home country, China, with $1.5 billion in player spending revenue from just the iOS platform.
The second biggest market for the game is Japan, with close to $1.06 billion in player spending. The third is the US, with $903 million in player spending.
The growth trend for Genshin Impact is positive and will most seemingly remain positive despite many of the fans being disappointed with the game for many reasons.
We hope Hoyoverse starts paying more attention to the player base and slightly less in organizing events in parts of the world that many players can't even experience.
