Riot will be continuing its rigorous dive into improving all the champion roles in Wild Rift. Previous patches introduced changes that altered the Support and Jungling role for the better. In patch 4.0, the devs have their sights on improving the Tank role gameplay experience.

Tanks are usually underappreciated champions in most team compositions. However, they play an incredibly powerful role in soaking up damage with their high HP, initiating team fights, and disabling enemies with their crowd control abilities.

The upcoming patch will aim to highlight the important impact they have on the shape of matches by significantly improving a Tank's overall impact on future plays and games. Here's a look at all the new items and item changes in patch 4.0.

Tank items offer massive advantages and utility to champions. But according to the devs, their effects "are often subtle", so it may be challenging to notice their benefits when they're used well. To combat this, new items and item changes will be introduced to Wild Rift in patch 4.0.

As it stands, Ixtali Seejar and Deadman's Plate are strong first picks for tanks. However, they're only useful for players whose gameplay style is centered around roaming the map.

To allow Tanks to develop more diverse playstyles, Riot has introduced a new item: Dawnshroud. When you immobilize a champion, this item's passive will damage and reveal nearby enemy champions. This effect will also be triggered if you are immobilized, providing a dynamic activation of its ability.

Dawnshroud is the perfect item for players who are more geared towards being an aggressive tank support and those who like to get ahead through laning.

Besides this, two Tank items will be reworked to better define their powers: Randuin's Omen and Frozen Heart. Randuin's Omen will get a new passive. When you're hit by a critical strike, you'll now gain stacks of 'Determination' for five seconds. Attacking another champion will consume these stacks and heal you based on the damage you took during battle.

This means that Tanks with this item will need to be more proactive in matches as the previous passive rewarded inactivity.

Frozen Heart also received a new passive. Basic attacks and magic damage you deal (or that are inflicted upon you and nearby allies) will apply stacks of 'Chill' to enemy champions. These targets will also gain stacks from attacking or hitting your or your allies with spells. Each stack will slow your enemies' attack speed (up to a cap).

Riot argues that a stacking debuff instead of the previous passive will make Frozen Heart more impactful in the game.
