Want to know how the new 5v5 game mode works in Brawl Stars? We'll explain it to you and provide tips on how you can win matches.
5v5 is a new Brawl Stars game mode that allows you to play existing games that have seen their rules modified and, most importantly, the team size enlarged.
First teased during the Brawl Stars' official podcast, Time To Explain, this game mode has many in the community excited as it presents an opportunity to experiment with team compositions, unlock novel brawler synergies, and of course, create some absolute chaos.
The 5v5 game mode will be rotated every weekend in Brawl Stars starting December 22 and will end when the next game update is released.
To help you get to grips with how this new game mode works, we'll show you everything you need to know about it.
Brawl Stars 5v5 Game Mode Explained
Everything is bigger and better in the 5v5 game mode. Matches will feature larger versions of the maps currently available in Brawl Stars. And, as the name suggests, each team will consist of five players instead of the regular three.
5v5 can be described as an extension of the current game modes in the game. It increases not only the team size but also introduces modifiers to the rules other game modes have. As of writing, only three game modes have a 5v5 version: Brawl Ball, Wipeout, and Gem Grab.
Here is how each 5v5 game mode works:
- 5v5 Brawl Ball: Same rules as regular Brawl Ball but it is played sideways (similar to Basket Brawl). The goals are also larger.
- 5v5 Wipeout: Same rules as regular Wipeout, but on a bigger map, and more eliminations are required to win a match.
- 5v5 Gem Grab: Same rules as regular Gem Grab, but some maps feature two Gem spawn points.
More game modes are expected to be available for a 5v5 version.
Tips On How To Play The Brawl Stars 5v5 Game Mode
The important thing to note about the 5v5 game mode is undoubtedly the team size. As you have more brawlers on a team, you will be able to create a more powerful team composition in terms of skills and abilities. For example, you can choose two Supports, two Damage Dealers, and a Tank if you want a rounded team that can supplement each teammate.
A second thing to note is that you should not group together near a single location on a map. This would allow brawlers with AoE-like abilities, such as Mico's and Ruff's Super, to destroy your team with a single attack.
Finally, you should always remain tactical about the moves you make during a game. With Brawl Ball and Gem Grab, be sure to defend those who have the ball or have the most Gems. In Wipeout, do not recklessly charge forward if you want to get an elimination. The larger enemy team size makes it easier to be eliminated, so keep in mind that Brawl Stars is a team game and you should make decisions that benefit the team.
