Supercell has revealed some information about a potential Story Mode that may be coming to Brawl Stars in the near future.
Brawl Stars is known for its high-octane multiplayer third-person shooter action. What it's not known for so much, however, is its lore. The brawlers in the game have limited lore and not much has been done to dive deeper into their backstory.
But this could all change. The devs sat down for the first installment of their Brawl Stars podcast, called 'Time To Explain', where they answer players' questions. One question during the conversation asked about a potential story mode - to which, the devs revealed an interesting piece of information.
The short answer is yes, the devs have thought about creating a story mode for Brawl Stars. Game Lead Frank stated that they have always wanted to delve more into PvE game modes where a rich story could take place.
The devs were "so excited" about this idea that they created a working prototype for the story mode, but it was never released. The reasoning behind it? To put it in Frank's words, the story mode "wasn't good enough."
In their attempt, they felt that it did not do it justice and that there wasn't enough time or resources to make it sustainable in the long run. They also argued that Brawl Stars is known for its massive PvP gameplay, and not so much for its PvE experience as a story mode would be.
But, this doesn't mean that a story mode will never be released. The devs mentioned that it's an idea they would like to revisit once the conditions are right.
What could we see inside the story? Well, not much was revealed about it, but the devs mentioned that there would be big boss fights. Minions and robots would also play an important role in the story.
