Rejoice! Classic Zombies is returning to COD: Mobile! The fan-favorite PvE mode has been missing from the game since 2020 but its return looks imminent after it reappeared in the latest test build of the popular mobile shooter. This follows on from comments made by the COD: Mobile developers in June when they said they were hoping to bring back the Classic round-based Zombies game mode the like of which is currently seen in the Chinese version of the game. First seen in Treyarch's Call of Duty: World at War, the Zombies game mode was a revelation when it was first released, becoming hugely popular with the Call of Duty community. It has subsequently appeared in nine mainline Call of Duty titles since.

COD: Mobile Test Server Has Classic Zombies Game Mode

With the release of the latest test build of COD: Mobile, we can say that Classic Zombies is officially back in the game.

Featuring the iconic Shi No Numa map, players have been left ravenous waiting for its return since it was vaulted back in March 2020.

There has been plenty of other limited-time modes since then, including the Zombies-adjacent Undead Siege, which was removed last May with the release of Season 5: Tropical Vision. but nothing has quite scratched the itch left by Classic Zombies.

But with it now hitting test servers, it is only a matter of time until everyone can once again play COD: Mobile Classic Zombies.

When Will COD: Mobile Classic Zombies Return?

The question of when exactly Classic Zombies will return to COD: Mobile is less certain.

The developers state that the content of this latest test build "is for the next season or it could potentially be for two seasons from now." A statement that clearly leaves open the possibility that Classic Zombies won't arrive with Season 7, expected to launch at the end of July, but with Season 8, which would arrive closer to September.

But it is coming, and for that, we can be grateful.

How Can I Play Classic Zombies Now?

If you can't wait for Season 7 or 8, whatever it may be, you can try your hand at getting a spot on the COD: Mobile Test Server. Be warned though, the test build is restricted to 30,000 players and is on a first-come-first-serve basis. It is also, at the moment, only available for those that play COD: Mobile on an Android device.

The test began on July 12 and is expected to last a week though it could be longer.

  1. Download the 64 Bit: bit.ly/CODMPTB64Bit6 or 32 Bit: bit.ly/CODMPTB32Bit6 version of the client on your chosen device.
  2. Install the .apk file.
  3. Launch the COD: Mobile test build (you can have the test and official version installed at the same time).
  4. Jump into the Zombies game mode!

No progress is saved in this test build, and once the test period is over, there is no use for the files, so remember to uninstall the build.
