This guide explains the Honkai Star Rail's pity system while talking about soft pity, hard pity, and other such things.
The pity system is a mechanic that you will find in every other gacha game to make sure at some point, players are getting characters or any items for their microtransactions.
Thankfully, Honkai Star Rail is no exception, as it, too, has a pity system in place that comes into play whenever players perform Warp in any of the banners.
We have prepared this handy guide to ensure you understand how pity works in Honkai Star Rail and how you can benefit from it to obtain some of the best playable characters and lightcones.

How Does Pity Work In Honkai Star Rail
The Pity system in Honkai Star Rail works similarly to what we have seen in Genshin Impact. You have a 0.6% chance of obtaining a five-star character and a 2.5% chance of getting a four-star character.
Here are the different pity percentages that you must know about:
Type | Pity |
Five-star character | 0.6% |
Consolidate chance, including guarantee | 1.6% |
The base chance for obtaining four-star entities | 5.1% |
The base chance of obtaining four-star characters | 2.55% |
The base chance of obtaining four-star light cones | 2.55% |
Consolidate the chance of including four-star rewards, including a guarantee | 13% |
Chance of obtaining four-star character or light cone from guarantee (10 Warps) | 99.4% |
Honkai Star Rail Soft Pity
Honkai Star Rail's soft pity starts when you reach 70 Warps with no five-star character or light cones. After that, between the 70-80th Warp, you have a higher chance of obtaining a five-star.

Honkai Star Rail Hard Pity
Honkai Star Rail's hard pity is 90 Warps. When you perform 90 Warps, you are guaranteed a five-star character or light cone, depending on the banner. Moreover, if you are performing Warps on the limited-time banner, the 90 Warps will give you a guaranteed five-star character; however, the chance of it being a featured five-star is 50%.
Is There A Pity Reset In Honkai Star Rail?
The short answer is yes, we do have pity reset in place in Honkai Star Rail, which comes into play when you get the desired character or light cone.
For example, assume you get a five-star character in just 40 Warps. Then the pity counter will reset to 0 instead of 39 or 40.
