Pokémon GO's January content update is full of new Five-Star Raids, Mega Raids, Raid Hours, Spotlight Hours, and events. Here's a complete breakdown of what you can expect to see.
It's a new year in Pokémon GO! January will mark the second month of the 'Timeless Travels' season in the game.
With a new month upon us, you can expect a variety of new content in Pokémon GO such as refreshed raids, spotlight hours, events, and a whole lot more. Brace yourself for a stellar month ahead and an action-packed start to 2024.
In addition to this, you will be able to encounter the Therian Forme versions of Tornadus, Landorus, and Thundurus as they are this month's featured Pokémon. Prepare to encounter them in featured attacks.

Pokémon GO Five-Star Raids
Six Five-Star Raids will be available in Pokémon GO this month. They will start and end at 10 AM local time on the dates mentioned below.
Here are this month's Five-Star Raids:
- January 1 – 10: Buzzwole (Only in the Americas and Greenland)
- January 1 – 10: Xurkitree (Only in Asia-Pacific)
- January 1 – 10: Pheromosa (Only in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and India)
- January 10 – 17: Tornadus (Therian Forme)
- January 17 – 24: Thundurus (Therian Forme)
- January 24 – 31: Landorus (Therian Forme)
If you are lucky, you may have a chance of obtaining a Shiny version of these Pokémon.
Pokémon GO Mega Raids
Three Mega Raids will be held in the coming month. Like Five-Star Raids, these Raids will start and end at 10 AM local time on the dates mentioned below.
Here are this month's Mega Raids:
- January 1 – 10: Mega Ampharos
- January 10 – 24: Mega Medicham
- January 24 – 31: Mega Steelix
On top of these three Pokémon, Shadow Moltres will appear in Shadow Raids during weekends in January.
You have a chance of encountering a Shiny one if you are lucky.
Pokémon GO Raid Hours
Six Raid Hours will be held in January. As usual, these will take place between 6 – 7 PM local time.
Here are this month's Raid Hours:
- January 3: Buzzwole (Only in the Americas and Greenland)

- January 16: Ralts (2x Transfer Candy)
- January 23: Barboach (2x Evolution XP)
- January 30: Foongus (2x Catch Stardust)
