We have a snapshot of the content coming to Pokémon GO in August 2022! Here are the details about the raids, research breakthrough encounters, and spotlight hours.
Niantic has revealed everything that's coming to Pokémon GO in August 2022! As always, we have an incredible mix of both in-person and in-game events that will see the level of fun taken to a whole new level. This month's content update is something you definitely don't want to miss!

In addition to this content update, we also saw Niantic reveal the new Daily Adventure Incense that will be coming to Pokémon GO in the coming week. Anyway, let's take a look at all the new content coming in August 2022!
Pokémon GO Fest 2022
Pokémon GO Fest 2022 will continue in August 2022. However, there will be two separate events occurring this month before it ends. These are:
- Pokémon GO Fest: Sapporo: Held from August 5-7, 2022, Pokémon GO Fest will come to Nakajima Park in Sapporo, Japan.
- Pokémon GO Fest 2022: Finale: More details will be revealed soon on the global finale event taking place on August 27, 2022.
August Community Day
A Pokémon GO August Community Day will be held on August 13, 2022! Pokémon such as Galarian Zigzagoon will appear in the wild.

Upcoming Events
Two other Pokémon GO events will be coming in August 2022. These are:
- Bug Out!: Bug-type Pokémon will return between August 10-16, 2022.
- 2022 Pokémon World Championships event: The 2022 Pokémon World Championships will feature Pokémon GO for the very first time, and an in-game celebration will be held between August 18-23, 2022!
Five-Star Raids
Four Pokémon will feature in August's five-star raids: Palkia, Genesect, Zacian, and Zamazenta. These are all the details:
Palkia will be in five-star raids between July 31 and August 10, 2022.
Genesect will be in five-star raids between August 10 and August 18, 2022.
Zacian and Zamazenta will be in five-star raids between August 18-31, 2022.
Mega Raids
Four Pokémon will feature in August's Mega Raids: Mega Abomasnow, an unknown Pokémon, Mega Slowbro, and Mega Ampharos. These are all the details:
Mega Abomasnow will appear in Mega Raids between July 31 and August 10, 2022.
An unknown Pokémon will appear in Mega Raids between August 10-18, 2022.
Mega Slowbro will appear in Mega Raids between August 18-25, 2022.
Mega Ampharos will appear in Mega Raids between August 25-31, 2022.
Raid Hours
Every Wednesday in August, a Raid Hour event will occur from 6 pm to 7 pm local time. These are the Pokémon that will be appearing in Raids:
- August 3: Palkia.
- August 10: Genesect.
- August 17: Genesect.
- August 24: Zacian.
- August 31: Zamazenta.
Research Breakthrough Encounters
Galarian Stunfisk will appear in August's Research Breakthrough encounters between August 1 (1 pm local time) and August 31, 2022 (1 pm local time).
Pokémon Spotlight Hours
Five Pokémon will be appearing in August's Pokémon Spotlight hours. These are:
- August 2: Hisuian Voltorb (2x Stardust for catching this Pokémon).
- August 9: Nidoran ♀ (2x XP for catching this Pokémon).
- August 16: Joltik (2x Candy for catching this Pokémon).
- August 23: Nidoran ♂ (2x Candy for transferring Pokémon).
- August 30: Pidove (2x XP for evolving Pokémon).
