A closed beta test for Project C, the name of the Chinese version of Valorant Mobile, has reportedly been released in China.

It is alleged that these tests will be held in August 2023, with only Android players granted entry to participate in them.

Players in China will be able to register for these tests by having a valid WeChat account, QQ account, and a Chinese phone number.

Unfortunately, this means that those outside of the country hoping to finally get their hands on the first tests of Valorant Mobile will have to wait.

This piece of news is yet another installment in the unpredictable story of Valorant Mobile. The game has long been in development but has stumbled along the way. Anna Donlon, the Studio Head of Valorant, previously went on record by saying its development was "slower than hoped".

Most recently, it was rumored that Riot Games took over the development of the game from Tencent Games. After this action, it is presumed that they will restart the development from scratch.

Now, Project C is believed to be still under the care of Tencent Games. Many speculate that with these titles being under two different development teams, we could see a similar outcome in the PC version of Valorant where there is one version for China and another version for Global.

For the most part, Project C and Valorant Mobile will have similar gameplay. The only difference is that one will be available in regions where the other one will not be.

At the time of writing, there is no official release date for Valorant Mobile. If rumors are true and Riot has indeed restarted the game's development from ground zero, it may be some time before it will come to mobile.
