If you are a player excited about the release of Valorant Mobile, then this piece of news is something you will not want to hear. It's reported that Riot Games will be replacing Tencent Games in the development of the mobile port of their highly successful FPS title.

Now, this might sound like good news at first as the developers of the original game will be taking full control of its future development. However, it comes with one major setback. Riot will be scrapping all previous development work done by Tencent and will be redeveloping Valorant Mobile from scratch.

Unfortunately, this approach of starting from zero means that the release date for the game will be pushed back indefinitely. It was previously expected to be launched worldwide sometime in 2024 or 2025 as beta files were discovered and a prototype of the game was reported to exist.

Such a dramatic shift in the development roadmap calls into question if the features rumored to be under Tencent's version of Valorant Mobile will still be available under Riot's version. This largely concerns cross-progression and controller support.

News of the game's delay only adds to the turmoil surrounding Valorant Mobile. Earlier this year, Riot admitted that the development of the game was going "slower than hoped." Many players are beginning to wonder if Valorant Mobile will ever be released.

There's only one way to find out and that - sadly, for many - is simply by waiting on new information to be released from the developers.
