Wuthering Waves is an upcoming open-world game that is set in a beautiful dystopian future world where civilization is trembling in the wake of an almost world-ending event.
The game is clearly inspired by Genshin Impact due to its open-world nature and similar play style. But unlike many other "Genshin Impact clones," Wuthering Waves is being developed by a studio that has been working on a very popular action RPG called Punishing Grey Raven.
The studio's other game, being one of the most exciting and in-depth action games that can be played on mobile, is great to keep in mind going forward. The game may be open-world like other games, but it will most likely end up having more in-depth Devil May Cry-type combat, which is going to be a great breath of fresh air.

Wuthering Waves Release Date & Time
Update 2 on March 29, 2024: Wuthering Waves will launch on May 22 (PT).
Update 1 on March 29, 2024: Wuthering Waves release date on the App Store shows as May 23, 2024. Moreover, at the time of writing this update, Kuro Games has also announced a live stream, which will share an important date for the game later today.
Wuthering Waves Release Platforms
Following the footsteps of Genshin Impact and Tower of Fantasy, Wuthering Waves will be released exclusively on three platforms at launch. The game will be available to play on:
- PC
- iOS
- Android
So far, we have no confirmation that the game will be coming to consoles. Once we have any updates, this section will be changed!
Wuthering Waves Gameplay
Wuthering Waves gameplay revolves around characters and their unique move sets and abilities. The gameplay is more fast-paced and reaction-focused than other games within this open-world genre.
In all of the gameplay posted so far, we have seen the ways that players interact with the world and solve puzzles, like in Genshin.
During these gameplay trailers, there have also been boss fights where we see characters use their charged attacks, normal attacks, skills, and ultimate abilities.
One of the standouts of the gameplay trailers is characters have access to interesting ways to traverse the world. There's a grappling hook that everyone can use, which zips the character to a wall, which then you can run up the wall, making travel around the overworld very fast.

Wuthering Waves is a post-apocalyptic open-world action-adventure game where you are in a war against enemies from another dimension who have been ravaging your world after a cataclysmic event that happened over a century ago.
The story seems to be way more serious and on the darker side than other games in the genre.
