Who knew killing monsters was charitable and fun? That's what League of Legends: Wild Rift players are learning today (August 1) after it was revealed that their killing of 20 million chaos monsters has helped raise $2 million USD for the Riot Games Social Impact Fund.

The feat was made possible after Riot Games announced that for every 10 chaos monsters killed during the Star Guardians event, the company would donate $1 up to a maximum of $2 million.

Riot Games has now revealed, that with ten days to go of the event, those 20 million have been slain.

The money raised will be going to the Riot Games Social Impact Fund. Riot Games' charity designed to promote equality in education, opportunity, and global citizenship.

That isn't the only money coming the fund's way via this recent Star Guardians event. In League of Legends, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of Taliyah's Star Guardian-themed cosmetics will go to the fund.

Similar efforts have been seen in previous events, most notably the Sentinels of Light cross-game event which had a presence in every Riot-developed title, including Valorant. This helped raise over $10 million for the fund and saw 30 non-profits receive $10,000 grants.

It appears that mixing engaging in-game events with charity is a winner and don't be surprised to see another benevolent event in the future.
