Players can expect a gold cost reduction for Rare, Epic, and Legendary cards in Clash Royale. Here's everything you need to know about these changes.
In a surprise announcement, Supercell has reduced the gold cost of Rare, Epic, and Legendary cards in Clash Royale.
They reason that the prices of these three card rarities have remained unchanged since the game was launched in 2016. After seven years, the cost does not "reflect the current reality of game progression."

Supercell further cited that Legendary cards and other card rarities are now easier to obtain so it only makes sense to see their costs slashed.
With these new changes in place from September 7 onwards, here is a look at the updated card gold costs in Clash Royale.
New Card Gold Costs In Clash Royale After Price Reduction
The new prices are monumental and could see Clash Royale players save a significant portion of their gold.
Here is an overview of the new card gold costs:
- Rare: 50 Gold (previously 100)
- Epic: 200 Gold (previously 1,000)
- Legendary: 15,000 Gold (previously 40,000)
Meanwhile, the cost of Common cards will remain the same at 10 Gold.
Altogether, this cost reduction has been a welcome change for many Clash Royale players - especially those with F2P accounts. It allows the community as a whole to save their hard-earned Gold for other expenses.
These changes could mean that Supercell is planning on increasing Card Levels beyond the current Level 15. One of the main issues that players have with higher Card Levels is the gold cost required to obtain and upgrade them. This adjustment could be a solution aimed at these sentiments.
