This guide goes over what Card Evolution is in Clash Royale, including its respective abilities, which cards have it, and how you can get evolved cards.
Card Evolution is a feature in Clash Royale that was added in the June 2023 update alongside Card Level 15, Elite Levels, and rework to event rewards).
You can unlock a Card Evolution by collecting Evolution Shards. Once unlocked, you can place the card in one of your deck's two Evolution Slots. In battle, you will need to play this card a number of times (also known as Cycles) before the Evolution is activated.
Dark Elixir drops can be seen above the card in your Evolution Slot. Opponents will also be able to see this. Once the drops have been filled, the card's Evolution can be deployed.
When the evolved card is ready to be played, you can play it like a normal card. But bear in mind, once the evolved card is played, the regular card will need to be played a certain number of times again before you can play its Evolution form.

17 cards currently have a Card Evolution in Clash Royale:

- Valkyrie
- Wall Breakers

Keep in mind that only Common cards will get a Card Evolution. Any other card rarities besides this will not receive one.
Clash Royale Card Evolution Abilities
Card Evolution will give cards unique animations, enhanced stats, and special abilities compared to their base cards. Simply put, think of these evolved items as an upgraded card. However, some Card Evolutions may only receive one of the above-mentioned perks because of their strong abilities.

Overall, Card Evolutions are powerful additions to your deck and can significantly improve your win-rate and overall deck synergy.
How To Get A Card Evolution In Clash Royale
You will need six Evolution Shards of that specific card to unlock their Card Evolution. To utilize a Cards Evolution in your deck, you will simply need to drag the Card Evolution into one of your deck's Evolution slots. If you place the card in any other deck slot, the card will not have any of its Evolution perks during battle.
Your first Evolution slot will be unlocked at King Level 7. You will need to reach King Level 54 to unlock the Evolution slot.
You can get Evolution Shards in Clash Royale through:
- Pass Royale (unlocks at King Level 7)
- Season Shop (unlocks at King Level 8)
- Challenges
- The Shop
- Path of Legends
- Level-up Chests after King Level 50 (every second Level-up chest)
There are multiple avenues to get these Shards, so there is a high likelihood that you will get one eventually
