With Valorant Mobile's global launch clouded in mystery, we'll give you the answers you're looking for about the release date of Riot's upcoming title.
In 2021, Riot announced that they were working on developing a mobile version of their popular tactical first-person shooter (FPS) game, Valorant. Simply titled Valorant Mobile, it has captured the excitement of many players from around the world.
The game has quickly become a highly-anticipated title and could introduce a new era of mobile gaming when it is released.
Unfortunately, Valorant Mobile has been hit with waves of uncertainty as it has experienced several setbacks along its development. Its release date has been put in jeopardy, but there is hope for it to make it to app stores.
When Will Valorant Mobile Be Released?
Riot has not given an official release date, but Valorant Mobile is rumored to be released in 2025.
It was reported that Riot has restarted the development of the game from scratch after taking over from Tencent Games. Anna Donlon – the development team lead for Valorant – previously confirmed that the development of Valorant Mobile was going "slower than hoped."
On top of this, Riot recently announced a massive round of layoffs which saw the team size reduced by 530 people. This has led some in the community to fear that the development of Valorant Mobile has either been halted or hindered.
These two factors combined mean that it could be some time before the game enters a closed beta, soft launch, and full release.
Valorant Mobile Leaks & Expected Features
As Valorant Mobile is a mobile version of Valorant, players can expect a similar gameplay experience as the mainstream port such as the Agents, maps, and blockbuster 5v5 action.
Leaks suggest that Valorant Mobile will have cross-progression with the PC version of the game. This would allow players to retain their Battle Pass progression, unlocked Agents, skins, and other items across both platforms.
Cross-play is also rumored to be a feature available that will enable lobbies to be a mix of PC and mobile players.
The Chinese version of Valorant Mobile, Project C, underwent a period of beta tests in China in August 2023. Though it is being developed by Tencent Games rather than Riot, it offered a first look for many players to what can be expected in the game.
In the Project C beta tests, there were fourteen Agents, an option to buy a recommended loadout with one tap, and a gameplay rule where the first team to win eight rounds is crowned the victor of the match.
Information on Valorant Mobile is still scarce, but we will continue to update this page once more details are made available.
