Supercell has revealed their plans to introduce a major rework to the Power League in Brawl Stars. These will affect several areas such as the mode's schedule, rewards, and ranking format. Here are the details.
In a recent episode of the official Brawl Stars podcast, Time To Explain, the Supercell team described the steps they plan on taking in the future to overhaul the Power League and ultimately make it a more enjoyable experience for players.
For a while now, the Power League has unfortunately been an underappreciated game mode in Brawl Stars as few players play it and some deem it to be requiring too much effort. The rework is meant to address these complaints and other key issues affecting the Power League such as the report system and players picking low-level brawlers.
The incoming changes are quite radical and have been described as "wild." In the podcast episode itself, Brawl Stars Game Lead Frank stated quite frankly that "Power League is dead" as it will be updated with several new features that would give the game mode a whole new look.
The Power League rework is just one of the many reworks the Brawl Stars team has been releasing in the past few months. Recently, we saw reworks made to the Brawl Pass and Clubs. Now, with all eyes set on the upcoming Power League changes, we will show you what you can expect to see in it.
New Power League Schedule & Modifiers Are Coming To Brawl Stars
According to Community Manager Dani, the new Power League season "is one month long and is likely to follow the new Brawl Pass" because the devs felt that this would be a good pace to progress. This would mean that each season's duration will be cut in half from the current two-month reset.
A key feature will be introduced to Power League matches too – that being that modifiers will be active during each match. However, these modifiers will be largely different from the ones that players have seen in the past such as those in the Mega Pig event. Instead, they will be more predictable in terms of their effect, and not so much RNG-based.
Ultimately, the goal of introducing modifiers is to make each game play out differently depending on the game mode, the map, team composition, and modifiers. All of these factors will also influence which brawlers are picked. This entire move is to shake things up as the Brawl Stars team felt that gameplay was prone to being stale and boring.
Improved Power League Rewards & Ranking System
New rules will be in place for the various ranks. For starters, the first few lower ranks will not have any pick/ban phase as the devs believe there is a big gap between a Trophy game and a Power League game. Meanwhile, they have kept these and the more hardcore, competitive aspects for the Diamond rank and above.
With this improved system, more rewards will also be available. It is unclear what we could see as the Brawl Stars team describes it as a work-in-progress at the moment. However, given that a new season will take place every month, you can expect to claim more rewards from the Power League.
At the time of writing, it is unclear when the Power League rework will be released to Brawl Stars. However, we expect it to be released during the March 2024 season. More details on this rework could be provided in the next Brawl Talk which is scheduled to take place on February 24, 2024.
