New name, new game - that's what EA is shaping the next era of their football franchise on the small screen, EA Sports FC Mobile (formerly known as FIFA Mobile), to be.

In their efforts to revamp the gameplay experience and improve the footballing action, new features such as Impact Controls have been added to the game.

Impact Controls seeks to improve three core aspects of the game. Namely, they aid defending, build-up play, and scoring. These are absolutely crucial mechanics to familiarize yourself with if you want to take your skills to the next level.

How Impact Controls Work In EA Sports FC Mobile

There are three new Impact Controls in EA Sports FC Mobile: Power Shot, Hard Tackle, and Knock On.

Here's a look at how each one of them works.

How To Perform A Power Shot

Power Shot is the fastest and most powerful shot type available in EA Sports FC Mobile. This may be familiar to some players as it was first introduced in FIFA 23.

The animation length of a Power Shot is longer than a regular shot and puts your player at risk of being tackled during the wind-up phase.

To perform a Power Shot, you will need to swipe right from the shoot button. Alternatively, you can utilize the Power Shot gesture which requires you to swipe back and forth towards the goal in one continuous motion.

Power Shots will be fully assisted, but you will have control of the direction of the shot and its power level.

How To Perform A Hard Tackle

Since Power Shots are being added to the game, EA will also add a new feature to defend against it: the Hard Tackle.

With this, you can deploy a "powerful and far-lunging" stand tackle that can efficiently block and dispossess opponents.

To perform a Hard Tackle, swipe left from the Sprint & Tackle button in the defense state.

How To Perform A Knock On

Knock On is a new feature that allows you to break away from defenders and create space to complete a clean shot at goal. With the newly introduced Dynamic Game Speed, you can effectively dribble while using a player's full speed.

To perform a Knock On, you must first assign it in the Team Skill Moves menu. Then, swipe to the assigned direction from the Sprint & Tackle button during a match.
