New Origins, card types, and keywords have been revealed to be coming to Legends of Runeterra in the Darkin Saga: Awakening expansion! Here are all of them.
Riot has finally announced the new expansion, The Darkin Saga: Awakening, that will be coming to Legends of Runeterra! In the expansion stream, Kayn was revealed to be one of the five new champions. After that, several other new champions and cards were revealed. Each of these feeds into the dark, mysterious, and corrupted theme that Riot is building upon in the new expansion.
Riot has also revealed new Origins, card types, and keywords that will be arriving in the Darkin Saga: Awakening. Let's take a look at all of them and what their abilities are!
Darkin Saga: Awakening Origin - The Shadow Reaper
The Shadow Reaper is the new Origin that will be introduced in the Darkin Saga: Awakening expansion. It can be seen in the new Kayn Champion card. The Shadow Reaper Origin will allow you to insert any Cultist cards such as the Forsaken Baccai and the Ranger-Knight Defector into your deck during deckbuilding.
Once you have summoned three or more different Cultist units, you can draw Kayn.
Darkin Saga: Awakening Origin - Grandmaster At Arms
Grandmaster at Arms is a new Origin that will be introduced to Legends of Runeterra in the Darkin Saga: Awakening expansion. This will allow you to insert any Weaponmaster cards into your deck during deck building.
Jax is the only Champion who possesses this Origin, so put him into your decks if you want maximum weapon carnage!
Darkin Saga: Awakening Card Type - Equipment
Equipment is a new card type that will be coming in the Darkin Saga: Awakening expansion. These cards, such as the Darkin Scythe and the Corrupted Scythe, are essentially weapons that can be equipped to a unit to grant them bonuses. If the unit leaves play, the Equipment will be returned to your hand.
You can place each Equipment at most once per round. Legends of Runeterra senior designer Jon Moormann revealed that Equipment cannot be silenced (working similar to Attach).
Darkin Saga: Awakening Keyword - Auto-Equip
Auto-equip is a new keyword that will be introduced to Legends of Runeterra in the new expansion, The Darkin Saga: Awakening. Cards with the Auto-equip keyword will automatically equip the item from your hand or play when summoned (creating it first if needed).
Cards such as Rhaast and The Shadow Assassin have been revealed to contain the Auto-equip keyword and will automatically equip the Corrupted Scythe and Shadow Scythe, respectively.
Darkin Saga: Awakening Keyword - Flow
Flow is a new keyword that will be introduced to Legends of Runeterra in the new expansion, The Darkin Saga: Awakening. Cards with the Flow keyword can be activated for special perks and bonuses if you had played at least two spells or skills in the previous round.
The Soul Sword and the new champion, Master Yi, are just a couple of the new cards with the Flow keyword.
Darkin Saga: Awakening Keyword - Improvise
Improvise is a new keyword that will be introduced to Legends of Runeterra in the new expansion, The Darkin Saga: Awakening. Cards with the Improvise keyword will make you choose one of the two random options from a depleting pool of Equipment to equip the ally with. If the ally wasn't played from hand, it equips a random Equipment instead.
Fireth, Reaper of the Sands has been revealed to be one of the new expansion cards with the Improvise keyword.
Darkin Saga: Awakening Keyword - Forge
Forge is a new Keyword that will be introduced to Legends of Runeterra in the Darkin Saga: Awakening expansion. Cards with this Keyword will grant an ally +1|+1. But, if the ally is Equipped, grant the buff to their item instead.
Jax's Counter Strike is an example of a new card coming in the new expansion with the Forge keyword.
You can view all the cards (and their card text) from the Darkin Saga: Awakening expansion in Legends of Runeterra on the Mobalytics site.
