The February 2024 update in Clash of Clans brings various new additions such as the Overgrowth Spell, Hero Equipments, upgrade levels, and more.
The first major update of 2024 has just landed in Clash of Clans and it is a big one.
Starting from arguably the most important addition, we have the Overgrowth Spell. It is a unique utility magic item that can be used to support your troops during battle.
In addition to this, there are new troop and building upgrade levels that will greatly improve how well you perform both offensively and defensively. If not, feel free to use the two new Hero Equipments introduced in the update.
While improvements to the gameplay are key, several UI and quality-of-life changes were implemented to ensure that the game is a pleasant experience for all players.
Here is a complete rundown of the February 2024 update in Clash of Clans.
Overgrowth Spell
The Overgrowth Spell is a new splash area magic item that you can unlock at Town Hall 12 when you upgrade your Dark Spell Factory to Level 6.
When used, the Overgrowth Spell will render enemy buildings and defenses invisible, invulnerable, and essentially frozen for the duration of the spell's effects. Note that this would not affect walls, Heroes, or Troops from the Clan Castle.
This spell would effectively allow you to funnel troops into an enemy's base without resistance. We recommend using this spell as a support item to initiate swarm attacks or to allow your higher-HP troops to enter a base without taking too much damage.
New Hero Equipment
Two new Hero Equipment have arrived in Clash of Clans: the Haste Vial and Hog Rider Puppet. These will be reserved for the Royal Champion.
The Hog Rider Doll allows you to summon a team of Hog Riders on the battlefield. You can unlock it at Blacksmith Level 7.
On the other hand, the Haste Vial increases the movement and attack speed of the Royal Champion for a few seconds. It can be unlocked at Blacksmith Level 8.
More Troop And Building Upgrade Levels
Several new upgrade levels for troops, buildings, and defenses was introduced in the February update.
Baby Dragon, Bowler, Hog Rider, Minion, Siege Barracks, Log Launcher, and the Electro Owl were the troops who received new levels.
For buildings, it was the Dark Spell Factory, Hidden Tesla, Inferno Tower, Scattershot, Seeking Air Mine, and all three resource-collecting buildings.
New 'Pin' And 'React' Features For Clan Chat
The Supercell team called the old Clan Chat UI "old, outdated, and not that pretty." To improve that, they have introduced two new features for the Clan Chat: pin and react.
Pinning messages allows you to keep them at the top of the Clan Chat view or shown in the dedicated 'Pinned' tab. Only Leaders and Co-Leaders can pin a message.
You can also react to messages with either a 👍, 👎, ❤️, 🤣, and 😭. A reaction can be added by tapping on the message.
Balance Changes
In any Clash of Clans update, you can expect balance changes. In the February update, a few balance changes hit troops across the Home Village, Builder Base, and Clan Capital.
The Clan Capital Super Miner, Root Rider, Super Archer, and Super Barbarian were nerfed. Meanwhile, the Builder Base Drop Ship, Builder Base Night Witch, Dragon, Electro Dragon, and Super Dragon were buffed.
In addition to this, the Giant Arrow ability now travels a longer distance and allows it to travel across the entire Home Village. The Spirit Fox has had the frost effect removed from their attacks. Finally, troops that summon other troops who have reached their maximum cap for the number of summoned units will now summon new units quicker after falling below that maximum cap.
Quality Of Life Improvements & Game Changes
In other news, a list of quality-of-life improvements and game changes was added to Clash of Clans. These are meant to improve the overall gameplay experience.
These changes include:
- Progress Bars have been added back to the info screen.
- Upgrade buttons have been improved to show a specific resource or magic item to reduce accidental usage of unintended Resources/Items.
- Troops can now walk through decorations and obstacles when in combat (except in Clan Capitals).
- Decorations now do not prevent deploying troops on them anymore.
- Players can play in a Friendly War and a normal Clan War at the same time (in two different Clans).
- If a Clan War ends in a "perfect-perfect draw", neither clan loses their Win Streak.
- Bypass cooldown when setting up a Legend League defense layout after merging defenses.
- Leaders and Co-Leaders can now see the "last seen" timer for members up to a month.
That wraps up the February 2024 update. Supercell usually releases two major updates each year. We can expect the next one to be released in August 2024.
